An excellent option for on-site storage, shipping containers will keep your goods dry, secure, and conveniently accessed. The type of entry doors determine the level of access to the inside of a unit. A shipping container comes standard with lockable double swing doors at one end. The double doors open the width of the container, making the process of loading easy. However once the container is loaded, accessing the goods stored inside may be inconvenient or difficult. Choosing from a wide selection of custom doors can make accessing the inside of a container easier and more convenient.
Some questions to consider when exploring entry door options:
How do you plan on using the container?
How often do you need to access the inside of the container?
Will the container be used for work or living?
Cargo Doors
Standard shipping containers for sale and containers for rent come equipped with heavy-duty and weather-tight swinging doors located at one end. They use a cam and lock system which protects the contents inside the container from theft and all weather conditions. Additional cargo doors can be added to the opposite end of a container for a second entry point.
Personnel Doors
With a handle and deadbolt lock, personnel doors provide easy access ideal for work and living uses. Made of solid steel, these doors are welded into the wall of the container so the unit remains wind and water-resistant. Plus, the insulated core of a personnel door maintains a comfortable interior of the container. Designed to walk through, these doors can open outward or inward with hinges on either side. Available for all shipping container specifications, this door option is cost effective, secure, and practical.

Roll-Up Doors
Much lighter in weight than cargo doors, roll up doors are easier to open and close. Installed on either side of the container or on the ends of a unit, these doors can provide a bigger opening for loading and storage of larger items like tractors, lawnmowers, large furniture, and more. We offer roll up doors that extend all the way to the floor of the container or they can stop at walk up height for unique uses like snack bars and event check in stations. Most roll up doors come in stock white paint, but custom colors can be ordered and roll up doors can be painted to match the color of the container’s exterior.

Sliding Steel Doors
Container Alliance created steel sliding doors as an alternative to roll up doors when full size wall height is needed. Framed from the corrugated siding, these doors are available in various sizes from 5ft to 20ft in width. Virtually invisible when shut, the steel sliding door can be locked from the inside creating a safe and secure container. These doors can only be installed on the side of a container, not on the end.
On a 20ft shipping container, we can install a steel sliding door that opens a 10' section staggered on either side or located in the center. On a 40ft shipping container, we can install a 20' opening which is the largest door available at Container Alliance. One sliding door can provide an opening equal to the door size or two sliding doors from opposite directions can be combined for one large opening. Heavy and industrial, these doors are ideal for workshop applications, mobile product displays and “pop up” store fronts.
