When talking about shipping container conditions, a commonly used description is “wind & watertight” or WWT. A container that is wind & watertight, will not have any holes in it and will not leak. The container will also have dents, dings, scratches, scrapes and surface rust. These imperfections are normal for a container that has been utilized for international shipping service. It will have the original paint from the manufacturer and exterior colors will vary. Generally, a container that’s wind & watertight will be 10+ years old. If you are utilizing a container for general storage purposes, a WWT container is probably a good fit for you.
