20’ Refrigerated Container - Used: Description

20’ refrigerated containers are an excellent option for businesses needing additional cold storage.  We offer used 20’ refrigerated containers for sale.  Don’t be fooled by the word refrigerated, as they can be utilized as freezers as well.  They are equipped with a cooling system that can be adjusted to meet the needs of your product.

The used units are typically 12-15 years old and were utilized for international shipping service.  They are sold in “as is” working condition.  We perform a diagnostic on the cooling system called a PTI or Pre-Trip Inspection.  This is to ensure that you’ll receive a unit that’s in good working order.

The electric cooling systems can maintain temperatures below 0 deg F and up to 85 deg F (depending on product/usage).  They require either 230V or 460V 3-phase power and come standard with a 50-foot power cord for electrical connection on-site.

The 20’ refrigerated containers can easily fit into a standard parking space.  They are equipped with lockable double swing doors on one end.  The interior walls/ceiling are comprised of stainless steel, and the floor is an aluminum t-rail construction.  They can hold as many as 8 standard pallets (single stacked/side by side), and the floor is rated for forklifts and pallet jacks.

Container Tech - Cargo Worthy Containers

A cargo worthy or seaworthy container is typically used for shipping purposes. A cargo worthy container is also wind & watertight (WWT). It will be free from holes and will not leak. However, once a container is retired from shipping service, the container needs to be re-certified by a maritime surveyor if it’s to be shipped again. To ship a container, it must conform to CSC (International Convention for Safe Containers) standards. It basically means that a container is suitable to be loaded/stacked on a container vessel for shipping. A maritime surveyor will ensure the container meets these standards. You should receive a certificate for the container that can be presented to the port authority. A cargo worthy container is generally 10+ years old. It will be in similar condition to a container that is WWT (dents, dings, surface rust, etc.).
