40ft High Cube Refrigerated Container - Used: Description

We offer used 40’ refrigerated containers for sale.  The used units are typically 12-15 years old and were utilized for international shipping service.

They are equipped Carrier™ or Thermo King™ cooling systems (depending on availability).  The units can be utilized as a cooler or freezer.  The temperature setting can be adjusted below 0°F and up to 85°F (depending on product/usage).

The electric cooling systems require either 230V or 460V 3-phase power.  If you have 230V 3-phase power available on-site, your unit would need to be connected to a dedicated 60-amp circuit.  If you have 460V 3-phase power available on-site, your unit would need to be connected to a dedicated 30-amp circuit.  The unit would come with a 50ft power cord and has the bare wires pig-tailed for hardwiring.

The 40’ refrigerated containers are equipped with lockable double swing doors on one end.  The interior walls/ceiling are stainless steel and the floor is an aluminum t-rail construction.  They can accommodate up to 18 standard pallets (single stacked/side by side) and the flooring is rated for forklifts and pallet jacks.

Container Tech - Cargo Worthy Containers

A cargo worthy or seaworthy container is typically used for shipping purposes. A cargo worthy container is also wind & watertight (WWT). It will be free from holes and will not leak. However, once a container is retired from shipping service, the container needs to be re-certified by a maritime surveyor if it’s to be shipped again. To ship a container, it must conform to CSC (International Convention for Safe Containers) standards. It basically means that a container is suitable to be loaded/stacked on a container vessel for shipping. A maritime surveyor will ensure the container meets these standards. You should receive a certificate for the container that can be presented to the port authority. A cargo worthy container is generally 10+ years old. It will be in similar condition to a container that is WWT (dents, dings, surface rust, etc.).
